Air Fryer Potato Chips
Have you had Kettle Chips? They’re one of the most addictive packaged foods I’ve ever had! I have them sometimes as a treat, but I wanted to try making my own chips at home so I could have them more often.
In order to do this right, you really do need an air fryer and a mandolin. If you want to try it in an oven, I won’t stop you, but the results won’t be as good. If you can slice a potato in perfectly even, thin slices, go for it, but I cannot and I use a mandolin that can.
Bonus recipe:
So, there is no formal recipe for this.
Slice up some russets or Yukon golds, or whatever you have, with your mandolin. I usually slice them to 1/16” thick.
Next, soak them in cold water overnight.
The next day, take some out, dry them off and spray them with a little cooking oil (I use avocado and recommend it) and sprinkle on some salt and/or some everything bagel seasoning.
Air fry at 350 degrees until crispy. Repeat this with all the slices. You can also do this without oil, but the chips will stick to the air fryer.
The amount of time it takes will vary, depending on the thinness of your slices. I just kept checking and tossing until they were browned and crispy. That took about 15 minutes. When you’re checking, pull out any chips that are already done so they don’t burn.
And then eat the whole bowl.
